Cardiff and Uwic E 3-4 Pembroke County
After last weekend’s double victory County looked to build upon their success against Cardiff and Uwic E away. The absence of Andrew Major
gave Gavin Bernard his first ever game as a goalkeeper. The first ten minutes saw County go 1-0 up after a lot of patient build up play with Scott Lewis
giving County the early lead. Attacking play by County high up the pitch unfortunately resulted in turnover ball for Cardiff and Uwic leading to a short corner and an equalizing goal. Further loose ball by County in midfield combined, with unmarked runners breaking through by Cardiff and Uwic, meant by half time County were 3-1 down.
At half time a quick reshuffle by County, due to various injuries, saw Gareth Davies
at left back, Alex Alderwick drafted into central midfield to replace the injured Ed Clements and centre back Paul Thomas unfortunately moved up front as striker. A new determined County side from the start of the second half clawed back a goal to make the game 3-2 through Ed Clements. Further patient play, expansive passing and great battling in the D by Paul Thomas, who managed to pounce upon loose ball in the D, gave Mark Brimbacombe the opportunity to put County level at 3-3. A tight final ten minutes eventually saw County’s determination pay off with Ed Clement scoring the winning goal.
