It was a day of what might have been for the Mini Pitmen today as they travelled down to Bridgend to play a double header against Bryncethin
As a result of the easter break it Penallta last played three weeks ago and their lack of match practice showed.
The game against Bryncethin was even more frustrating for the coaching team as Penallta had the potential and players to win easily. However missed opportunities and a few crucial decisions against them meant that Penallta were destined to lose again. In the first half despite a high tackle Penallta did cross the line unfortunately Will Keep dropped the ball and the try was disallowed. In the second half Penallta picked up the pace and showed a bit more structure however Bryncethin scored a controversial try when the Mini Pitmen thought the ref had stopped the game for an injury. Bryncethin played on and scored. The Pitmen responded quickly when Liam Lintern powered over for a try and it looked as though things were picking up. However lapses in concentration kept letting the boys down and finally Bryncethin scored to win the game
Bryncethin 2 Penallta 1
Try Scorer Liam Lintern.
Players of the Match Jack Grovell and Efan Willis for good work around the rucks and mauls.
