Juniors Roundup

Match report for U9
Langwathby v Penrith
Sunday 2nd Dec 10.30 KO.
Penrith were quick to start and some high pressing created the first goal scored by Beau Romano.
Following the restart Penrith continued to pepper the Langwathby goal only to be denied from some good saves and the woodwork, soon Penrith pressure paid off with Baeu Romano scoring his second. Penrith started to pass the ball around and following a loose ball in the box a quick thinking Charlie Wright performed an over head kick in which he scored. Langwathby started to press and thanks to our goalkeeper, Lucas Thompson, who made some great saves.
Langwathby made their break through just before half time with a deserved goal. Both teams started well after HT and Joel Mounsey scored the teams forth goal from a corner, George Curry was growing in confidence and was making some great runs down the by line to put the crosses in which resulted in Baeu scoring his hat trick.
George was nearly on the end of the best move of the game which started with Penrith Keeper, 5 passes through the mid field but Langwathby keeper made a good save to deny George Curry.
Penrith defence of Charlie Price and Lewis Ritson stood up well to a dogid Langwathby attack which eventually they made their second break through.
From the off, Penrith scored 2 quick goals from Joel Mounsey for his hat-trick.
To be fair to Langwathby they kept their heads up and scored a lovely free kick into the top corner late on.
Penrith were not finished and for all the persistence payed off with Baeu scoring his forth, a good performance by Penrith, and thanks to Langwathby for hosting the game.

Penrith AFC Stars v Penrith AFC

What more could you ask for then a true honest derby between young and old to kick start 2019 off.
Jimmy Romano's high flying Penrith AFC with some very promising up and coming players in his ranks playing some very nice quick moving football with some lovely skill thrown in the mix, first 10mins passed and both teams level, Penrith AFC were holding their own but Penrith Stars just edging it with attempts on goal.
Penrith Stars looked jaded and weren't bossing their younger opposition but the deadlock was broken with Ellis working well with Nassim up front to put the ball in the net but back came Penrith AFC driving forward, the ball swung into the box and hitting Penrith Stars defender Spencer on the knee to go in the net, this seemed to give Stars the wake up call they needed, they knew they had to lift themselves and they did just before the end of the half. Nassim linking up well with Ellis again to pop it in the net.
2nd half started and Stars started a lot better and started to pass the ball round a lot better and had a lot of very good chances but Penrith AFC were holding out well, experience and fitness were starting to show with the Stars as they moved into the last 10mins and eventually Penrith Stars netted again, Ellis on the mark again but AFC did not lie down and kept fighting for everything but for the last time in the game Nassim stepping up to grab his second for the Stars, full time.

Penrith AFC made the more experienced Penrith Stars flight all the way for their victory and the younger players from Penrith AFC should be very proud of themselves.
