Carlisle shocked at strength of Penrith squad.

Positives to build on for the team.
The U14 squad travelled to Carlisle for their annual early season encounter!
Penrith got the game under way quickly securing the ball and moving it acreoss the pitch to Jordan Fishwick on the wing who when over for the first try, much to Carlisle's shock. Ross Donald converted it from the wing on a wide pitch. The Penrith players continued to put pressure on the Carlisle defence with some good play from the forwards. The game was evenly balanced for a while until Liam Braithwaite powered over the line for the second try of the game on 15 minutes again to be converted by Ross Donald. Carlisle realised they needed to step up a gear and soon after scored with a powerful solo run. Just before half time Carlisle went over again and converted to make it 12-14 at the break.
in the second half both teams were close to scoring on several occassions, but as the game went on Carlisle applied more pressure and eventually got their second try which was converted. They would have had another but for a Laurie Tallis tackle. The game ended 19-14 but there were many positives to build on. Well done to Owen Calvert who made some terrific tackles on his debut and shocked Carlisle. There was a lot of good team play. Well done.
