A BUNGEE jump and the roasting of an 800lb cow will be among the attractions during a charity fun weekend at Penrith Rugby Club.
It follows on from a successful fun day held two years ago at the Winters Park venue. The latest event will be held over two days, on Saturday, 4th, and Sunday, 5th August.

On the Saturday will be a daytime event between 10am and 5-30pm. Attractions for youngsters will include a bouncy castle, big slide, face painting, a falconry display, paintballing and possibly fairground rides. There will also be a bar, a barbecue and ice cream sales.
"The two main attractions will be a 178ft bungee jump in the car park," said Spike Johnson, of Penrith Rugby Club. "This time we are teaming up with the Great North Air Ambulance Service and money raised will go towards keeping the (Langwathby-based Pride of Cumbria) helicopter flying," he said. we need jumpers for this great cause. (see below to book your place).
The second big attraction is something that Frank Jackson the clubs caterer believes has not been done in Cumbria for 180 years. "Instead of a hog roast we are spit-roasting a beast — in this case an 800lb cow," said Frank. "This event will be filmed by the Hairy Bikers film crew for their next television series so you may get your mug on TV."
On Saturday evening, from 7pm, there will be the roast, a disco and live music provided by 'The Fabulous Picasso Brothers' of Kendal inside a large marquee on the pitch. www.fabulouspicassobrothers.com
Tickets for this will be £25 per head, with tables for 10 people costing £250. Several tables sold already so please book early we had a waiting list last time, those that went had a great time.
On the Sunday will be a car boot sale between 9am and 1pm on the car park — (in the marquee if wet). The cost of this will be £5 per table and refreshments will be available.
From 1pm there will be a truck pull, with two vehicles provided by the clubs main sponsor Eden-based A. W. Jenkinson and also Eddie Stobart. Teams of 15 are being sought for this. So if you fancy a few pints and think your firm, pub, sports club, gym etc are the best get a team together and contact Spike (£2) per person.
