Gaerwen 2-2 Pentraeth

A last gasp equalizer earned the hosts a draw, but to be fair it was a fair result. The game was played in very good spirit, with both teams respecting each other. The hosts where stun when 16 year old Rees Roberts scored his 3rd preseason goal in 4 games to give the visitors the lead. Rees latched onto a brilliant throughball from Sam Regan, to lauch a stunning shot past the keeper. Gaerwen were given the oppertunity to equalize from the penalty spot, but it was blazed over the bar. However the hosts were level before halftime, when a throughball caused confusion in the defence for the striker to score. The second half began with the hosts bossing possession, but all the play was in their own half, and when they went forward the attack was broken down by an impressive Pentraeth back four. The visitors did take the lead on 70 minutes when yet another Sam Regan throughball was controlled by last seasons 25 goal striker Gareth Roberts, who struck the ball past the keeper to score his first goal of the season. Pentraeths defence stood firm as the hosts pressed for an equalizer, however the hosts weren't to be denied a share of the spoils when they equalized to make it 2-2 with the last kick of the game.

In the end a draw was a fair result. This was against a team who play their trade in a league 2 levels higher than ourselves and we have showed on our day we can give very good teams a difficult game. We were also missing five first team players who could easily be in the starting x1 come the first game of the season in Chris Davies, Dyl Roberts, Mark Williams, Llion Williams and Ioan Hughes.
