2012 - 13 season and all that.....

Next season there will again be 16 teams in the Northern Alliance Premier Division, only Ponteland United will be relegated following the resignation of Murton and no club has been promoted to the Northern League from the league's top division. Amble United and Wallsend Town have been promoted from the league's middle tier and will provide new venues to visit for the 2012-13 season.

The first division which had finished with only 11 teams last term, will have it's compliment further boosted by 6 clubs who will be promoted from the second division

Harton and Westoe have also left the league and Heaton Hawks, a new club who had been admitted into the second division for the coming season have changed their minds.

Please take note of the new regulations as stipulated below;

During matches - those on the pitch side of the rail (management, substitutes etc must wear coloured bibs - they will be provided to clubs very shortly and if the match referee reports that an individual has not complied with this new ruling he will be fined.

A substitute board must also be used - this will be ONE board which will denote the player on the pitch who is to be replaced. (there will be no board to mark the number of the substitute entering the field of play)

The Northern Alliance is to also tighten up on those who post what can be construed as anything relating to undue criticism of the league, it's officers and officials, fellow clubs and match officials on club websites, forums and social networking sites such as twitter and facebook and will result in the perpetrator and the club being charged with bringing the league into disrepute and will be summonsed before the league management committee to explain their actions.
