Percy Main will entertain Seaton Delaval, this Saturday in the first of a couple of successive tough home games for The Villagers as championship chasing Newcastle University will make up the opposition next Wednesday evening.
Delaval, themselves still in with a shout of the title, currently sit third top of the Alliance over division table at Purvis Park, as all of the league's sides look to make some headway into the inevitable backlog of postponed games, following one of the worst winters (certainly for grassroots football) in recent times. And with games still falling by the wayside, this past week, Spring hasn't been much better either!
We've done pretty well against Seaton Delaval in recent times, having won 2 and drawn one last season, however that trend didn't continue this time around when they accounted for The Main by a 6-2 scoreline at Wheatridge Park back in August. The now departed Sam Thompson hit both of our goals, while Delaval's counters were courtesy of Matty Hayton 3, including a penalty, Michael Baxter, Michael Leech and an own goal.
Our last home game was back on February 17th v Ponteland - so get the prayer mats out for decent weather between now and kick off time!
Kick off is 2:30pm.
