A sad loss....

The local football fraternity has been stunned by devastating news of the death of Robbie Livermore, who had played with distinction for Percy Main, Whitley Bay, Whitley Bay 'A' North Shields, West Allotment and Sunday side North Shields Billy Mill and will be greatly missed.
Tributes have been paid to him by many former team members, opposition, match officials and supporters today.

Robbie surfaced at The Main as a raw teenager at the beginning of the 1998-99 season, with his brother Denis and Brian Smith and together they made up the spine of a side which went on to win the Northern Alliance First division championship.

Northern league football soon beckoned at Whitley Bay and Robbie was a member of the Whitley squad which won the FA Vase at Villa Park in 2002 against Tiptree United and again in 2009 when Glossop North End were defeated 2-0.

Following the inaugural Gary Hull Memorial Trophy match at the end of the 2002-3 season against a Northern Alliance Select X1, which eventually went the way of the league side, (2-3) Robbie signed on at The Main for the following season, which became Percy Main's most successful of modern times.

The Main finished 4th in the Premier division table after leading early season behind eventful champions West Allotment Celtic (who were promoted) and he figured in a memorable game against Allotment in which Percy went behind to a couple of early goals, but ran out 5-2 winners, thanks to a couple from Robbie. The Northumberland Senior Benevolent Bowl was won by Percy Main that year thanks to a 2-0 win over Cramlington Town at Whitley Park, with Livermore playing a key role.

Robbie was the last Percy Main player to score over 30 goals in a season, during that successful campaign, 15 years ago now, he was a deserved 'Player of the Year' and is without doubt the best forward that the club has fielded this millennium.

Another spell at Whitley Bay followed, while he also turned out successful for North Shields and Whitley Bay 'A' towards the end of his playing time.

He was a keen member of Wallsend Harriers and proved his fitness with a few gruelling triathlons for the club.

A top lad, always time for a smile and a word with anybody, thoughts with the family and those close.

Thanks for the memories Robbie x
