A great success, well done and thanks to many.....

Thanks to all who supported Percy Main's Race Night on Saturday night, it was brilliantly attended, a massive success and has proved the club's best fundraising event in recent times by some distance. There's still an awful long way to go, but if Saturday is anything to go by, it's possible that the club can survive and ultimately prosper.

From 'Master of Ceremonies' Jon Laws who expertly compered the evening, (without swearing too much) the ladies who served up the delicious (unburnt, despite the frequent aromas drifting down the bar to the contrary) culinary delights, Alan Armstrong who contributed most of the prizes, others such as Bob Rodgerson, Steve and Julie Hurd, Dave Addison and Mick Ridley who also hoyed in (sorry if I've missed anybody out, it was a bit manic at times!) and Jack Armstrong, top auction bidder, who was probably the drunkest man in the place, although Rob Watson, who had earlier enjoyed Newcatle's 3-0 win over Southampton at St. James, obviously fortified by the odd lemonade shandy, came a very close second.

Robert Hamilton who sold over a hundred quids worth of raffle tickets and brought every single person who lives in Walker, pie connoisseur Steve Hurd who knows a thing or two about pastry delights and went home with half a dozen in his back pocket, putting one away for his breakfast on Sunday morning, Steven Hurd who treated his beautiful young lady to an evening in Percy Main Cricket Club on her 21st birthday (his fatha has taught him well and he knows how to show the birds a good time - if anybody needs any tips on how to keep the women sweet, he's your man) and a great set of players, including the sadly departing Sam Thompson and supporters, many who were down at Percy for the first time, the other successful auction bidders and all who joined in with all that was going on and have ultimately helped our club no end.

And at least everybody now knows where 'The City of 7 Lamps is'!
