Pershore 0 v 30 Coventry Welsh
Pershore lost to a strong Coventry Welsh team on Saturday at Piddle Park in this Midlands 4 West South encounter.
Following their good cup performance last time out, Pershore were unable to reproduce that form in the league and although Pershore competed throughout the match they were once again beaten.
In a stop start match with some odd decisions going against both sides it was difficult to gain any momentum and keep pressure on the opposition, with a good number of scoring opportunities coming from mistakes.
Good attacking work from Luke and Josh Hardiman got Pershore going forward and excellent defensive work from Greg Hitchcock and Dave Oliver kept the visitors at bay for long periods. However, Pershore were unable to convert their pressure into points and Welsh took their opportunities when they were presented.
The visitors gained a 15-0 halftime lead and although Pershore had some scoring opportunities, they created gaps when chasing the game a little and allowed the Coventry side to extend their lead and eventually win the game.
Pershore will hope to better their performance next week when the travel to Harbury in the league.
