Here at Perthshire Rugby we are glad to see that there is some rugby being played at last, albeit away from home. The North Inch is still under a sheet of ice even after the recent thaw and as such the primary afterschool clubs have now had to be postponed as a result.

On a positive note we are now back in primary schools delivering curriculum rugby and the kids seem to be very excited about the sessions, especially the 30 P6 pupils I delivered to at Our Lady’s primary on Monday who were keen to get involved and not afraid to get muddy.

The sessions we are delivering just now are aimed P6 & 7 at the Perth Grammar and St John’s cluster primary schools and will be running for the next six weeks were we will then take our sessions to the Perth Academy and High cluster schools.

I am building up to the return of the Interschool league where at the moment Crieff High are sitting top of both the S1/2 and S3/4 leagues. The fixtures will return on the 15th of February and I am sure all the teams involved will be hoping to knock Crieff off the top spot in their respective leagues.

I will be involved in the Scottish Rugby “Key National Theme’s” launch on Monday the 24th of January in Loch Levin Capmus, Kinross. We will be giving coaching tips and advice on how to deliver Scottish Rugby’s four main skills. These are “Hand Catch”, “Ball Presentation”, “Offload” and “Individual Tackle Technique”. The launch commences at 7pm and is open to anyone coaching from S1 to U18 If you are interested in attending then contact me on 07545817529.

On the 31st of January I will be hosting a meeting for all the junior coaches at Perthshire Rugby where I will be outlining where we are at currently with “Development” and giving some insight as to where Perthshire as a club should be progressing. All junior coaches at the club are invited along and it is hoped that there will be a good attendance, if you are coming please meet in the Multi Purpose room at Bells Sports Centre at 6:30.

As always new players and volunteers are more than welcome, if you are interested in getting involved please contact me on 07545817529.
