Tough Day Away
Perthshire U16s made a bright start to the first game of the New Year away against Dunfermline.
However, a quick succession of penalties awarded to Dunfermline helped the home side score the first try.
Two further tries followed for the home side before Perthshire got back in the game.
Some good pressure in Dunfermline's twenty-two allowed Finlay to intercept and score - a try he duly converted.
The home side scored again before Perthshire rallied into the end of the first half and the captain showed what was needed with another try.
At 26-12, the game could have been either side's for the taking in the second half. All credit to Dunfermline whose forwards really came out steaming in the second half, with line-outs being the notable exception where Perthshire dominated.
The second half saw a number of substitutions for minor knocks which left a couple of players out of position. This disruption began to tell as the game got away from the visitors ending 57-12.
Given the bruising nature of the encounter, it was great to have a four-man bench - not least thanks to the great club spirit of U15 prop Alasdair and full-back Lachlan who joined the U16s for the day.
Thanks to all the folks who came along to support too.
