Perthshire's forwards and backs combined well in a show of strength, developing technique and desire to secure a commendable victory against much larger opposition.

From the start, the pack were determined to punch holes in the opposition defence. There was some strong straight running, good offloading and fast recycling when the ball went to ground. This was mirrored by the direct running of the backs showing a good mix of narrow and wide penetrative forays through the opposition defensive line.

Generally our tackling was determined and low with Ben, Lewis R, Mathew, Angus L, Ally, Jambo and Lochlann showing a real willingness to drive their shoulders into the opposition's legs. The tries that we did give away always arose from one or more attempted tackles that just went in too high and were easy to brush aside by Dunfermline's big pack. Again, special mention needs to be given to Angus L at full back who put in some brave and crunching try-saving tackles.

Despite the size of the opposition the Perthshire pack were dominant in the scrums showing improved technique and good strength. The backs used this platform to score some good tries. Jack always looked dangerous and illusive demonstrating good vision, fast feet and secure handling. Mathew and Adam came onto the ball at pace and were rewarded with a hat-trick of tries (two to Mathew and one lung-bursting effort from Adam). Harry scored a good try after supporting well and running with pace and power to cross the line. Perhaps the best try fell to Angus L. The forwards secured high-quality quick ball and the backs ran straight and moved the ball wide to release the pace of Angus L who used this rare abundance of space to speed away from the covering defence for an impressive team effort try.

Dunfermline came back strongly in the latter stages of the game but Perthshire held out for a victory of which they can be justly proud.
