Development team growing girls rugby in Perth & Kinross

Girls from Breadalbane, Blairgowrie, Perth High, Perth Academy, Kinross and Crieff came together as a Perth & Kinross Barbarians team at both U15 & U18 levels to compete at the Edinburgh Rugby Girls PCS Festival yesterday. Both age groups showed a large amount of skill and effort in what was their first attempt in proper games for many of the girls.
The Perthshire Rugby Development Team has been working hard to build on the excellent work being done by rugby champions and coaches in Perth & Kinross schools by bringing the small groups of girls together regularly for training and mini games in the build up to this event.
This event will hopefully see the start of more fixtures for this group of girls for the rest of the season and beyond..... Watch this space!
Finally, a big thanks to Blairgowrie Rugby Champion, Tom Dowie who gave up his Sunday to help Development Officer Rory McKay ferry the girls to Murrayfield.
A fun day was had by all although by the end of the Edinburgh vs London a Welsh game we had a large number of Players and coaches to defrost!!!!!
If anyone is interested in getting involved with Girls Rugby in the area, either as a player or coach, please get in touch with Rory McKay at perthshirerugby.rdo@gmail.com
