Consultant Dr . David Millar Leads Sports Concussion Seminar Perthshire Rugby Club 16th May 7pm Clubhouse

The Athlete Development Programme sponsored by Pentland Landrover are delighted to announce that Dr David Millar, Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, will present a lecture on Sports Concussion at the Clubhouse on 16th May at 7pm.
Dr Millar has spent 15yrs with the NHS specialising in Brain Injury Concussion and has spent the last 4 yrs concentrating specifically on Sports Concussion.
He and his partners at NeuroCog have focused on 2 aspects – training (mainly coaches and pitch side staff) and the use of baseline and post concussive neurocognitive assessments to better manage players following concussion so they don’t return before they have completely recovered and thereby reducing the risks associated with repeated concussions. This approach is common place in the US amongst schools, colleges, universities and amateur sports but is only really used in professional sports in the UK at the moment. There’s more details of what they do on their website
www.neurocogconcussion.co.uk
This training opportunity is open to all Coaches, First Aiders and Physios throughout the club and the aim is to provide a more informative insight into this type of injury and to try and create a common consensus of "treatment " throughout the club.
The lecture will last for 1 hour with Q&A session afterwards.
For more details please contact Andy Cummins and Rory McKay and for those wanting to attend we would ask that you send an email confirmation to Andy, Rory or the Section heads so as to ensure suitable seating arrangements.
This is one of the leading authorities in the world on the subject of Sports Concussion and I would urge as many as possible to attend.
