This week the Development Team have been busy coaching standing tackle technique and game play to P6/7 pupils from Auchtergaven, Oakbank, Craigie, RDM, St Madoes, Ruthvenfield, Pitcairn, St Johns , Kinoull and Tulloch Primary School. The pupils have all succeeded in making safe and effective tackles. We have now progressed into playing contact games, through this we are seeing a lot of good footwork and passing skills along with some amazing tackles. As all this work is building up to a PCS festival we were working on sportsmanship this week, encouraging each other and celebrating successful tackles from both teams.
We were also in Perth Grammar working with the S1 & S2 elective class, this week we were working on Breakdown and being active on the ground to get into the correct body position. Both classes picked these skills up well.
Last Friday we took the U12 girls through to Cumbernauld to the Scotland Women’s game against Wales. During the halftime the girls got to go onto the pitch to play against the U12’s from Angus. Throughout the game the girls made some great tackles and tries despite the pouring rain. The girls enjoyed the trip massively especially since they got to see Scotland Women’s first win in 7 years!
Next week we are back into the primary schools working to further progress their contact rugby skills and introducing rucking throughout the games.
