U15 Girls Rugby Success in National Cup Qualifiers

U15s perform strongly at Murrayfield
P&K Mud-Sharks U15 took to the pitch at Murrayfield last Friday in the Qualification Event for the National Cup and, I’m delighted to say, have won progression to the next round which will take place at Strathallan School on Sunday 29th November.
This qualifier was designed to prove that each team could field a team rather than focusing on the results. However, the results of the Mud-Sharks were excellent.
Two close losses against The Community School of Auchterarder and Murrayfield Wanderers, both of whom have a strong history in the Women and Girls game started and finished the evening. The match against Wandies was particularly rewarding with the Mud-Sharks leading for the majority of the match only to lose with the last score against a team that beat TCSoA comfortably. In this game the strong running of Shona C., Georgina A. and Marta W. really troubled the Wandies defence whilst the excellent Sister Act of Rhea and Elliann C. were putting in some excellent tackles all evening. The girls improved immeasurably over the evening with strong performances (and wins) over Falkirk and Lismore.
Everyone played a role strong role in the matches but particular congratulations should go to the 3 girls who played their first Rugby Matches: Lily-Ann M., Alice N. and Alannah K. With these and 3 other girls only in S1, this team still has a lot of growing to do over the next couple of years.
However, it is all about the now and the girls will do well if they can repeat their performances from Friday evening.
Girls Rugby is growing rapidly and the PRDT is working hard in Perth Grammar at the moment to provide S1/2 Girls (and Boys) with contact rugby. They are currently enjoying getting muddy and learning to tackle, ruck and score tries during their curricular PE time. To finish our work at Perth Grammar we are holding a House Competition next week then encourage some of these girls to continue their rugby journey by playing for the Mud-Sharks.
