Strong Showing at Stirling Sevens
The U15s finished the season with a strong showing at the Stirling Sevens
The U15s finished off their fantastic season with a strong performance at the Stirling Sevens.
In a 24 team competition which included some of the top sides across Scotland, Perth recorded three wins and one defeat. With only the four group winners progressing to the semi-final stage, the boys missed out narrowly.
Despite not having trained or played as a sevens squad this season, the boys were quick out of the blocks with an impressive 25-7 victory over a huge Mackie team. With a schedule which was less than ideal, the boys had to wait a further 2 hours before playing their next game against Ellon; which saw another outstanding display and a 29-5 win. With very little break in between, it was then on to play the hosts Stirling County. The boys were excellent in all parts of the game and won comfortably 43-5. Our final game of the group was against the also unbeaten GHA who had won the Hamilton Sevens the week before; and their experience and sevens understanding was just a bit better than ours. Despite holding on at half-time 10-14, the boys eventually ran out of steam after playing three games in quick succession, and GHA deservedly put the game to bed with two further converted tries.
A great run out for the boys and nice to see them finish off the season with a really strong performance against some of their 'arch-rivals!'
The U15s end of season review and awards evening is this Wednesday, after which everyone can take a well-earned break for a few weeks, before we start up all over again!
