GHA v Perthshire
Shire win the league in style
The final match of the Mitsubishi Galant Conference had the feel of a cup final as unbeaten Perthshire headed to GHA in Glasgow.
GHA had only lost once previously and a win for them on Sunday would have meant that they topped the U15 table. However, despite a lengthy bus trip, the Perth boys warmed up well and then tore in to the opposition from the start. At no point did GHA lie down, and clearly they have some good players, but Perth outplayed them in every department and won the match by 60 points to nil. The referee blew the final whistle 20 minutes early.
There were some excellent tries scored and also great defence from the boys who managed to dominate possession and apply pressure to the home team whenever they got the ball, forcing mistakes. A number of the tries were from a long way out showing the team's ability to run the ball from anywhere. This was the best performance of the season so far by the Perthshire U15s who have now been unbeaten in the league for three years and in 2018, over 11 games, scored 764 points and conceded just 79.
Well done to the whole squad (and parents)!
