Perthshire v Marr
A tough final game of the season
The Perthshire U13 team played Marr on Sunday in their last game of the season. The Home team were in a very relaxed mood from the kickoff and were presented with a tough challenge by the strong tackling visitors. The Shire forwards in particular were slow to get going and the backs hands let them down on several occasions. Perthshire also spurned a number of try scoring opportunites during the first period which ended with the score at 4 - 8 to Marr.
After some harsh words from the coaching team the Shire boys cranked into gear in the second period and managed to get a few scores on the board. Jonathan in particular managed to cross the line for his 50th and 51st tries of the season. Further scores were added in the third period by both teams with a final result of 23 - 16. Try scorers were Jonathan (2), Mike, Iain, Archie T and Cammie. Ru added 4 convertions.
Well done to the whole squad for a very successful first season of midi rugby. The boys managed to win almost all of their games and played a good brand of fast and entertaining rugby. The highlight of the season for me was the the win at Glasgow Hawks. The Hawks are a quality outfit with some very large forwards but our guys played and tackled them off the park and the final score of 4 - 14 to us actually flattered them.
Many thanks to all of the parents for their support and to Jan and Louise for their great photos!
