Best performance of the season
Short-staffed Boro come up trumps
Our first ever game against Tamworth, one of the real powerhouses of girls rugby, and the long journey didn't disappoint. A fantastic setting for rugby and wonderful hospitality.
However, 11 PRUFC girls (Abigail and Holley in plaster, Grace singing in the Cathedral, etc etc) against 20 Tamworth players, who hadn't previously lost all season, in a 12-a-side game didn't look like like the recipe for a good day.
Despite them continually being able to bring on fresh legs, our girls were absolutely magnificent, every single one of them playing better than they'd ever played before and digging deep to not only survive, but come out on top.
In four sessions of play, we came from behind to win the first quarter by 5 tries to 1 but then the home side figured out how to play against us and the second quarter was thrilling but scoreless. We then figured out how to play against them figuring out how to play us, and won the third quarter 2-1 and it looked as though the final quarter would end scoreless until they scored in the last minute after what seemed like an eternity of pressure.
A great day... and we can't wait for the rematch at Fengate in January.
