The 2018/19 PRUFC Ladies started the new season, at near neighbours, Wellingborough, on a scorching September Sunday.
The match kicked off with a host of new faces, so it meant that things will need time to click.
The hosts scored the first try, but Peterborough struck back immediately when Jess was able to score. Another try from Charlotte followed. At the end of the first quarter we were in the lead and looking good. The second quarter game saw tries from Sarah and Laura, and the visiting Boro, leading 22 - 19 at half time.
However, the hard pitch and solid defence from both teams meant that there were a few casualties. The hosts upped the intensity, and turned things round in the third quarter, scoring three unanswered tries, not for the want of some fine cover defence from Zoe. Into the final quarter and the visitors looked to, and succeeded in getting back into the game, with further tries from Charlotte and Laura in addition to the home side scoring a couple of tries of their own.
Final Score Wellingborough 48 Peterborough 34.
Thanks to Wellingborough for the match played in an excellent spirit and to our match official.
Players of the match were Jess and Kaleigh.
With a few players to return to the squad, the new league season starts next Sunday, at Fortress Fengate against Shelford, kick off at 2.45.
