Peterborough Ladies 108 Stockwood Park 0
Boro Ladies turn on the style in final home league game of the season.
Peterborough Ladies welcomed Stockwood Park Ladies to a windy Fortress Fengate for their final home league game of the season. They were also looking to make up for a narrow loss to the Luton based club earlier in the season. The game was played at 11-a-side, which meant that there would be lots of space.
And avenge the loss and utilise the space they did. Two tries within the first five minutes showed the Boro Ladies determination to play at pace. First up, getting the ball out wide where Lucy was able to scorch to the tryline. The second try came from Steph spotting a gap in midfield, and sprinting away. Boro were able to pick and mix their attacks throughout the first half, making the most of great carries from the forwards, with both Hannah's, Mel and Jo to the fore. Add to this great support and attacking lines from the backs saw Boro score at regular intervals. That skipper Mel only missed two conversions in the strong breeze was impressive. Abi was able to use her pace on the opposite wing. Strong running at inside centre from Laura, before a shuffle to pack, was drawing in defenders, and the pack were clearing out rucks to allow Zoe quick ball. The visitors lost a player to injury, and Boro dropped to the same number, meaning more space and fresher legs for the 'finishers' (copyright the England Bench in this years Six Nations). The half flew by with a total of eleven tries scored.
Half time Boro 71 Stockwood Park 0. Coach Rich made a few changes to give everyone some game time.
The question was could Boro keep this going for the second half. Stockwood Park were now able to play some rugby, and were making the hosts tackle, which they did to good effect. This also slowed the scoring down, but the visitors had no answer when the ball went wide, with Abi continuing her hot run of try scoring. Hailey showed both a direct approach, and some slalomlike footwork on her way to a debut hat-trick. The match was called early when Zoe was injured, and Stockwood Park had also lost another player to injury.

Our thanks to Stockwood Park for the game, played in an excellent spirit, and our match official.
Coach Rich had the unenviable job of selecting a forward and back of the match and chose Hannh C and Abi.
The theme this week was St Patricks Day (not Pancake Day), and there looked to be lots of Guinness based tat on show. Apologies but we had to leave before court.
Next up, the rearranged away match at Bury St Edmunds on 9 April. With the Ladies in this mood, BRING IT ON !
