Peterborough ladies close out their season with a win.
Peterborough went away to Mellish wanting to make amends for the previous weekends defeat. In much nicer conditions Peterborough kicked off with the wind on their backs. Mellish fumbled the ball and P'boro took full advantage, with the ball going through the hands out to the wing, and some great support running and offloads, bringing it back in Sarah Ashton scored the first try. Converted by captain, Melanie Fulcher. Within 10 minutes Sarah Winder scores a hat-trick of tries with the last being converted by the skipper. The rest of the half was played out with fast tempo, free flowing play with further team tries for Stephanie Warlow, Sarah Winder and Sarah Ashton.
Half time score 0 - 43
Mellish fought hard in the second half to disrupt P'boro line speed and it took 10 minutes before Nicola Perry could score again just inside the corner flag. With the forwards working hard, rucking everything in their paths, P'boro were able to work their way back up the pitch to see Kat Lynas storm through the defence to score just wide of the posts. Sarah Winder scored her final try, after a good bit of interplay with winger Becky Croker, inside the flag post. The Mellish defence were causing P'boro problems with two further tries by Verity Swinscoe and Rebecca Vaughan disallowed. The latter leading to a P'boro scrum for an 8, 9, 10 move pay off and Stephanie Warlow scored the final try of the game.
Final score 0-63
Coach, Richard Parsons, picked Kat Lynas and Sarah Ashton as the forward and back of the match.
