Olney Ladies 12 Peterborough Ladies 19
The case of the 'missing' ring' *
Peterborough Ladies travelled to Olney, looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the league, and were made to work hard by their hosts.
From the outset, this was going to be a physical battle, and some of the tackling was immense, with neither team giving any quarter. Olney made their way into the visitors half, and came up against a resolute Boro who were putting their bodies on the line. However, it was Olney who scored first when they managed to get the ball moving and were able to go over in the corner. Boro came right back, and Sarah was able to score near the posts, with Zoe scoring the conversion. The remainder of the half saw both teams trying to batter each other into submission.
Half time Olney 5 Peterborough 7
The second half saw Boro try to up the pace and look to get the ball out wide. However, the second try was scored by Kaleigh taking a direct line following some good work by her fellow forwards. Was this the time that Boro would pull away ? No, the hosts scored a try following a knock-on in their half which was converted. The score was twelve each going into the last quarter. Tremendous defence from Sarah, Zoe and Jess R stopped what looked like it would be a try, before Boro worked their way back up the field. The visitors were now camped in the hosts 22, and looking to score. The pressure paid off when the Boro Ladies made the most of a large blindside and quick hands from Nat, Steph and Jess W gave Sarah enough of a gap to sprint to the line. Zoe was able to get the extra points. Boro managed to see out the remaining few minutes and win their fifth league game out of five.

Thanks to Olney for a great (if nailbiting) game and out match official. Good to see a lot of Borough supporters at the match.
Coach Rich picked Kaleigh and Sarah as his forward and back of the match.
Next up Sutton Coldfield away on 18 November.
