Oundle Vets 49 Peterborough Juggers 5
Juggers invited to participate in Dom Wyer- Roberts memorial match
Eleven Juggers traveled the short distance to Oundle to participate in the Dom Wyer-Roberts memorial match, played on a glorious late summers day (even though it was mid October).
From the outset, Oundle were keen to move the ball, and this meant that we struggled to get possession. Oundle made the most of it and built a healthy lead.
Half time, Oundle Vets a good few, Juggers not so many, but orange froth and port. A few changes to allow the some of the massive Oundle squad an opportunity to have a run out.
All of a sudden, the Juggers were able to keep the ball in hand, and play in the Oundle half. This good pressure paid off when one of the Oundle loanees was able to score following an excellent driving maul from a line out. We were winning the second half. OUndle eventually managed to score a couple of tries, to seal a comfortable win.
A great match, for a great cause, played in a good spirit. Thanks to Oundle for inviting us (or should it have been Stamford), and to our match official.
The Juggers that traveled all that way were, Mr Chris Coyle, Mark Edwards
, Dick Hill
, Mark (butch) Quinlan
, Fred Beschizza
, Tony McClure
, Sean Enright
, Pete Hibbins
(again the only member of the BBGT available), martin warren
, Dave Keane and myself.
There were four people before the court, which was postponed, Skips for forgetting the kit (returning to Boro and still getting to Oundle by the alloted time), Fred for forgetting his shorts (it was OK, we had spares), Pete for his Fijian through the legs pass (no need for it) and Sean for being a bit late (and missing Oundle on the A605).
Next week it's Peterborough v Old Northamptonians, when we (and the firsts) will be in Northampton, as all the mens senior teams play ONs. Lets make sure we get a good turnout.
