Juggers 24 Oundle 29
Close but no cigar
The Juggers welcomed Oundle to a moist February Fortress Fengate. Both teams started at 100 miles an hour, and it was the Juggers who scored first when Rob was on hand to pick up Fred's grubba kick and cross the line. Richie was successful with the conversion. Being the Juggers (and proper sports), we let Oundle score next, before a break from Rob, who drew the defence, and popped a pass to Richie to score. Again, we allowed Oundle back into it, and with time running down, following some concerted pressure from the forwards, Ash was able to score from close range with the last play of the half.
Half time Juggers 17 Oundle 12. With very few subs, we carried on, rotating to allow anyone with a knock some time to recover.
Oundle scored a couple of tries, capitalising on loose play in their 22. However, the dancing feet of Redsy saw him score a try (converted by Richie) to draw the scores level. However (always however), the Oundle scrum half was able to make the most of a tiring defence to score. We finished camped in the visitors 22, but unable to score the try our play deserved.
Full Time Juggers 24 Oundle 29. Our thanks to our match official, and to Oundle for a great game. Thanks also to those youngsters (and maybe the not quite so young) Redsy, Richie, Jack, Jack and Ash.
Court was held were it was agreed by the Juggers Officers that there should be a 'proper' man of the match award (which requires the recipient to provide a little warming drink), and the first was awarded to Rob. No dick of the day as everyone gave everything, but apparently, Rob was close, but as his pass to Richie went to hand, he was saved.
Apple Pies all round as it was the day the music died (Don McLean fans will know).
No match (at the moment), so watch out for those texts from the Cap'n.
