Staggerers 53 (ish) Juggers 0 (ish)
Has anyone seen Kevin. Bank pays out on 68 minutes. Caravan of love ?
The Juggers, augmented by some Oundle players, traveled to the Racecourse to play Huntingdon Staggerers on a damp December Saturday, with the going officially soft.
Tremendous defence kept the (younger and fitter) hosts to three tries in the first half. We were unable to make the most of some good territory, but it was a great shift by the whole team.
Half time, Staggerers 15 Juggers 0, no orange froth (more later) and some changes.
The second half saw no less effort, but tired legs allowed the hosts to stretch the lead. Andy Coles, who had played the last few games at flank, was worried as he had yet to last 70 in the backs was having a humdinger at 13, until his calf went at 68 minutes, so close.
Full time, Staggerers 53 Juggers 0.
Thanks to Huntingdon for the game, it was a cracker to play in, to our match official, the three Oundle lads wearing a Juggers shirt, and to Jack and Josh as travelling Boro youth (and lowering our average age to below 50).
Court was held after the match with most having a picture of a Swift Caravan (because the drummer of the prog rock (hippy) band passed away on this day, not Pablo Escobar).
When checking that everyone was correctly attired, Skipper called for Kevin to step forward, only we didn't have anyone called Kevin in the team. Not a problem, we do now. Step forward James "Kevin" Feeke, who is also one of the current crop of BBGT. Before the court were Kevin (not having any boots), Skips (more than a little late) and Squeak (forgetting the 'plank' of the week, forgetting the orange froth and for entering a ruck from the wrong side and shoving the Staggerers scrum half into said ruck). The Plank of the Week was awarded to Squeak.
No game next week (at the moment), but it is the Gin Bottle on 15 December. We need to be ready for that one.
Late Update - Skips has been in touch with the final score.
