Northern Star duo Darren Jarvis and Michael Goode have won the United Counties League Premier Division manager-of-the-month accolade for October.

Star reeled off a streak of five victories in three different competitions during the past month – slamming in 19 goals in the process and conceding just once.
Three of the wins arrived in league action as they closed to within three points of the top of the standings. A thumping 4-0 triumph at title favourites Holbeach was the pick of the results while Star also saw off struggling Harborough 2-0 and won 5-1 at Harrowby last weekend.
Star also made progress in the FA Vase with a 6-0 victory over Team Bury and eased past near neighbours Peterborough Sports in the opening round of the Hinchingbrooke Cup – the first competitive city derby between the two teams.
Co-boss Jarvis said: “It is always great to receive recognition for a fine run of form, but it is certainly not just about myself and Goodey.
“It is a team effort from everyone involved in the squad – players, managers and our physio Lauren Wood.
“The lads have all been fantastic in recent weeks and we would like to thank them for the work they have put in to get us into a great position in the table and make progress in two cups.
“It isn’t realistic to expect that we will win every game, but we need to ensure we do continue to build momentum by keeping our performances at the level we have reached in recent weeks.
“If we can stay in good form over the next couple of months, who knows what we can achieve?”
Star’s next challenge is to make further progress in the FA Vase. They entertain Bedfordshire side Stotfold at the Mick George Arena on Saturday in the first round proper.
