Star struck twice in the additional half-an-hour to sink lower-level Bar Hill 2-0 in a replayed second qualifying round tie at the Mick George Arena last Sunday (October 26).
They had initially been dumped out of the competition by the Cambridgeshire side earlier in the month, but the result was voided following a successful protest by Star as the Bar Hill pitch did not conform to FA sizing regulations.
But they had to wait 100 minutes to make a breakthrough in the return clash as Rachel Adkin headed in a Leah Barnes cross in the first period of extra-time.
Adkin then turned provider to lay on a clincher for Donna Nicholls and Star successfully saw out the final few minutes with 10 players following the dismissal of defender Larissa Frederick.
And their reward is another home outing at the Mick George Arena this Sunday (November 2, 1pm kick-off) against the higher-level Dons in the third qualifying round.
Stasr boss Steve Iredale said: "We are all really looking forward to having a crack at a team going well in their league a level above ourselves.
"Bar Hill proved to be a very tough side to shake off. They might play at a lower level than ourselves, but they have given us our two toughest games of the season.
"We now need to do that against MK Dons. There is no doubt we have to raise our game to stand any chance of making progress.
"If not, they will have the capacity to punish us."
