This Saturday Field's 1st and 3rd XVs are at home in the League while the 2nds play away.

1st XV v Farnborough 1st XV
Field’s first league opponents, Farnborough, finished mid-table in League 1 last year and comfortably denied Fareham victory in the final of last year’s HRFU Gales HSB Plate competition.

Based on last season’s results, Field will meet the top teams for the first time in November playing Fordingbridge – who were narrowly pipped for promotion in the end of season playoffs – at the start of the month and Millbrook towards the end.

Chineham 2nd XV v 2nd XV
For 2014-15 the Merit league has been restructured into three divisions; Hampshire North, South East and South West. Field 2nds and the other top five of last year’s Merit Table 2 finishers – Overton and Ventnor 2nds, Basingstoke 3rds and Tottonians 4ths – will be playing in the Hants North league. Joining them in this new league are six teams who formally plied their trade in last year’s Merit Table 3, including Andover 3rds and Alresford 2nds.

The change in set-up means that Field has fewer matches than last year but, as some of the teams to be faced will be new to the side, no diminution in the challenge presented. The team’s first league game is away on the gently rolling pitch of Chineham 2nd XV.

3rd XV v Portsmouth 3rd XV
Field’s 3rd XV will be playing in Hampshire Merit South East this season, with three teams who played in Merit Table 2 last year; Ryde, Gosport & Fareham 3rds and the Market House Pirates, and they open their account at home to Portsmouth.

Pompey’s 3rds have had a mixed bag of results in their three home-based warm-up friendlies with a thumping win against Stoneham, a massive loss to Locks Heath 2nds and a close win against Totts 3s.
