“Getting Pam back on the team has given us a huge boost in our goal to get girls (and eventually women) playing rugby again at Penns Place. ”
Stuart Barden, Club Chairman
We are reintroducing girls’ rugby for the start of next season, with the help of England and Harlequins scrum half Leanne Riley.
Former PRFC and RFU allickado, Pam Cheeseman, has come back to the Club and brought with her a wealth of knowledge and experience of the Women's game. Allied with an undiminished enthusiasm for promoting the sport she loves, Pam aim's to ensure that the Club is ready to give the girls the best introduction to rugby.
Working with the current England and Harlequins scrum half, Leanne Riley, Pam and PRFC have so far introduced the game to upwards of 250 girls from 7-schools in the Petersfield area and we're not finished yet!
“It is fantastic that seven schools in the Petersfield area were very keen to have us visit them and support the Club in encouraging girls in the under-11 to under-16 age groups to play rugby.
“Leanne is visiting the schools, talking to the girls and giving coaching sessions which have proved very popular. The girls will then be invited to join us at Penns Place for three taster sessions. Leanne will be with us for each taster session. Any girls are invited and parents will also be welcome.”
The first two taster sessions at Penns Place will be from 11:00 to 13:00 on July 22nd and August 12th with the third session from 13:00 to 15:00 on September 2nd.
Leanne is hopeful that some of her Red Rose colleagues will come along to the sessions to add a little more star quality to the days!
Anyone with an interest can e-mail Pam at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details, the sessions are open to all girls regardless of their attendance at the school sessions.
