The game, one of only a handful played in Hampshire due to freezing conditions, saw players enjoy a match against a good natured Portsmouth veterans team.
Among the Petersfield squad were former first team players Chris Brown, Steve Dryden, Stewie 'the mayor' Bardon, Ian 'cuffy' Cuthbertson, new dad James Rapley and club chairman Peter 'curly' Caines.
At fly half, a fit and tanned Colin Bilyard, aged 60 plus, still give the visitors defence cause for concern -- and completed tackles that would make a first team player wince.
Heading the contingent of players who have more recently settled at Penns Place, was club vice chairman Dave Cosway, whose seventies style fancy dress raised eyebrows among the ladies present.
Alongside Dave was third team captain and occassional soul brother, Julian Blanks, Scots flanker Craig Inche, and the man for every postion, Brian Piggot. From East Meon Chris Brooker cut his usual dash, both on and off the pitch, and prop Bob Francis played his renowned static game.
Giving a lie to the saying old centers never die, they just fade away, was Trevor 'Lazarus' Wilcocks, who enjoyed himself so much, he has vowed to play every weekend.
The younger players included Woodys potential son-in-law Harley Orr, and its understood Ben Hooper also played, as did Dan 'the mechanic' Marsh.
Although Woody's crew lost four tries to two, the game for the scrum half who has played for every club team, and at one time or another, captained all of them, was enjoyed by all.
And for the man who has played virtually every Saturday for decades, and is as still competative as ever, well, it was a walk in the park.
At the evening celebration in The Black Sheep pub in Petersfield, attended by players, their partners, friends and families, an emotional Woody said: "I would like to thank my wife Jo and daughters for putting up with me playing rugby every Saturday, and everyone else who has."
