Phantoms RFC kicked off their 2016-17 season with a visit to the Find Rugby Now tournament at Staines RFC where they took their place in the Social 10's competition.

At the halfway point of the group stage, the Phantoms have recorded one loss and one victory to leave them with all to play for as the last two fixtures loom on the horizon. The Phantoms opened the tournament with a narrow defeat to Cancer Crusaders 14-10 with some members of the Phantoms squad yet to arrive at the venue.

This disappointment was transformed to joy as the Phantoms took apart East India RFC 28-10, who contained some elite sevens specialists in their line-up, to breath life into their title challenge.

Phantoms Captain Pete Scanlon bemoaned the circumstances surrounding the opening result stating, "If everyone had arrived on time we would have beaten them, of that I am sure".
