Phoenix RFC shifted up a gear with the Lucozade Sports Science Team.

Phoenix continued to prepare diligently for the Season ahead when Gareth
Turner from the Lucozade Sports Science Academy based In Brentford.

The Phoenix squad have undertaken several weeks of preparation under
coaches Mike Hudson, Paul Jefferies and Rob Mitchell, Gareth Turner from
The Lucozade Sports Science Team arrived to measure the level of fitness
that each member of the squad had achieved so far.

Using the Smart Speed Kit from Fusion Sport, Gareth put each member of the squad through a series of timed tests, which were electronically recorded and analysed against standard data. The coaching team at Phoenix will receive an analysis of the performance level of each player together with his strengths and weaknesses to define areas on which to develop.

Phoenix Club Captain Edd Dibb said that this is part of the new approach to the training experience at Phoenix intended to support the individual efforts of each player and the coaches in preparation for the up-coming season. This is part of the approach at Phoenix which is intended to prepare all players so that they can gain the maximum enjoyment from playing Rugby at Phoenix.

At the end of the session each player received detailed guidance on energy and nutritional information and some energy drinks to improve recovery from the session.
