“Pickwick Lions 2 v 1 Fareham Pirates”
Under 10 Challenge Cup Final:
Another even contest here for the Challenge Cup final, Pickwick started the stronger and had a couple of shots off target, but Fareham started to get into the game. Pickwick (and all the crowd) thought they had scored at one point only for the ball to bounce out off the post, 'get goal line technology at mini soccer' there were shouts of, but the game continued....
Both teams frustrated each other with not many clear cut chances, Pickwick shooting wide of the target, and Fareham having their shot blocked from a corner.
Then stepped up the Fareham number 4, Callum, from the corner he sweetly struck his shot and it flew into the goal like a thunderbolt! - Fantastic strike.
Half time finished 1-0 to Fareham.
Pickwick were straight out of the blocks in the second half to find that equalizer, only for a
Fareham player to put the goal in his own net from a corner, score was now 1-1.
Several scrambles in the Fareham box, saw the Fareham keeper make some excellent saves. We then saw a couple of long range shots from Fareham, and Pickwick hit the post and shot again wide. Then the breakthrough for Pickwick, an excellent goal by the Captain, number 7 Kian Murphy, Pickwick taking the lead for the first time in the game making it 2-1.
On the break, Fareham looked certain to score, the ball was hit straight at the keeper so the score remained the same, a few tense moments before the final whistle but Pickwick managed to hold on for the win.
Man of the Match, as chosen by me - Fareham Goalkeeper - Logan Roseby, for his excellent distribution, goal kicks and some super fine saves.
