RECS stretched their winning run to 17 games ahead of a major test of their title credentials at Lancashire Cup holders Bank Quay Bulls next weekend.

They had victory against the Cumbrian sewn up inside the first half, a sign that Recs quick men are going to relish the firmer grounds of the new summer league.

Braces for Jamie Smith and Ryan Hilliard, plus a Ryan Rogers try - all converted by from Danny Lynch- gave Gareth Haggerty's side a commanding 30-0 half time lead.

Spence Hoyland's touchdown for Island was converted by Matty Parkinson early in the second half gave the visitors some encouragement but Mark Briody, Mark Ashton and Lynch went on to add further home tries, with the latter adding another four points with the boot.

Lee Edwards scored a late consolation for the visitors.
