Club Events
Originally a Union Player, John made his debut against Ireland aged 21 and played on the summer tour against Australia.
After training as a Policeman he switched codes from Union to League, he played for Halifax, Leeds and Balmain Tigers in Australia.
John signed for Newcastle Falcons in 1996, then in 1997 he was selected for the British Lions Tour of South Africa and played in thye second test opposite James Small.
He only played for England twaice more after this tour and switched back to League with Huddersfield Giants.
Currently Director of Rugby at Cleckheaton RUFC his first Club and is involved with Leeds Tykes community rugby and matchday entertaining.
He is an honorary President of the Yorkshire Branch of the Wooden Spoon Charity which improves the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in Britain & Ireland.
A renowned after dinner speaker!(or he better be or I wont pay him)So get your tickets early and dont miss this special evening,starring a very special man, who has played at the very top of our beleoved sprt but has never forgotten his roots.
