Availability

All Plaxtol Cricketers,
Last weekend the club had to concede the Second XI KCVL Division 4 game for the second time this season. We simply did not have enough players available to fulfil the first and second team fixtures. The ramifications of this are that, if this happens twice more this season, then the second team would lose their status in the league completely. It is not a case of being relegated, the club would only have one team playing in the league.
Frosty and Paul have had a very difficult job this year and have done amazingly well to fulfil the other 6 weekend’s league fixtures. The situation is made worse by the new rule which stipulates that teams have to concede by midday on Thursday or have 10 points deducted in addition to forfeiting the match points.
The committee met on Tuesday to discuss this issue. We will try to increase the number of cricketers regularly playing for the club to alleviate the problem. There is no “magic“ solution and many other clubs are short of players but only Outwood are in a similar position in the KCVL.
Please support the club by making yourself available to play as much as possible for the remaining 10 games of this season. With good availability the club will get through this situation and maintain two teams in the KCVL in 2017.
On a different note, there will be a social after the final League matches on Saturday 3rd September at the Rifleman. This will involve awards and food. Please support this event too.
