Chiefs cross the Tamar to take on Ashes in latest of series of derby matches.

Plymouth Argaum won't have had to travel far for their Cornwall & Devon league matches this month as all four January fixtures feature opposition from the Plymouth Combination. The Chiefs will be looking to build on what was a decent team effort despite defeat against 4th-placed Plymstock Albion Oaks last Saturday when they take on 3rd-place Saltash at Moorlands Lane this Saturday (2:30pm KO).

The home fixture, back in September, was a close run affair with the Cornish neighbours taking the spoils 17-7. That was the first competitive match between the two teams for 15 years and it was good to renew acquaintance with a club that was formed by ex-Argaum captain Bill Ryan around 1970. Saltash come into this weekend's game on the back of a 17-12 defeat at Cornish Pirates last Saturday. There is always a warm welcome at Moorlands Lane, where Saltash have refurbished their clubhouse, please be aware though that there is a small admission charge for league matches.

Elsewhere, Argaum Under 14s travel up to Okehampton for a Devon Plate match. Squad numbers have steadily increased in a side that was built from scratch at the start of this season, we wish them all the best on Sunday (11:00am KO).

Finally, The Argaum Cubs, who re-started training last week after the Christmas break, entertain Totnes at Marjons. Meet at 10am, matches will start around 10:15/10:30.
