Titans Romp home in League and Cup double header
Devon Sharks – 22pts Plymouth Newcross healthcare Titans – 48pts
A fine goal kicking display and keen eye for the try line gave the newly sponsored Newcross Healthcare Plymouth Titans Player coach and captain for the game, Jonny Platt, a tally of 28 points of the Titans 48 points – 22 total, in this well awaited win away to rivals Devon Sharks.
The Titans attack was rewarded early on, after two sloppy penalties from sharks put the Titans deep into opposition half. full back Adam McCrohan scoring after some relentless Titans pressure, the first of his two break away tries under the posts within 3 minutes. Jonny Platt adding the conversion. Almost straight from the restart, the Titans soon found themselves on the receiving end as the Sharks hit back with a series of back to back sets and were awarded a try on the left flank on 6 minutes ,through Dave Woodhead, sharks unable to add the conversion.
However, Plymouth soon found some momentum and the second break away try on 10 minutes from man of the match McCrohan, saw him sprint 60 meters to score under the posts, once again Platt adding the extras.
After only 3 minutes the Titans were once again on the score board. the sharks attacking down the left flank and throwing the ball around only to see a miss pass, collected by Debutant youngster Connor Wallace-Simms, intercepted and speed down the field to register a try under the posts. Platt again with the extras.
Platt also making his Titans debut began to ask questions of the sharks defence whilst weaving his way through a tough Sharks defence and grabbing a try on 23 minutes with a score in the left corner, converting his own efforts this time.
Pressure began to grow on the Titans defence. The sharks sensed a comeback and the sharks midfield were able to claw back a converted try for the sharks, this was soon followed by another try In quick succession from Dave Welby-Love, their kicker however unable to add the extras.
It was the Titans though, who would have the final word of the first half when centre Steve Hillman collecting the ball after some well worked sets scampered under the posts to touch down, and gave Platt 2 more converted points for his daily Tally.

Johnny’s half time team talk must have been inspirational asThe Titans were straight out the blocks for the second half. After only 2 minutes they were on the score sheet again, Platt grabbing his brace and converting his own try.
The match started to settle and exchanges were made from both sides, both showing exciting attacking displays coupled with some hard defensive lines. It was however the Titans again who would break the deadlock. Giant prop Dave Betteridge scoring to the left of the posts (by his own admission “that ball was not being passed”) Platt once again adding the extras. Sharks where showing a spirited comeback and scored 2 tries in quick succession. Thing were really getting interesting at this stage with the Sharks sensing that maybe they could salvage something , However a strong run from the Titans centre Rob Owles, followed by some fine footwork, a great side step and a sprint 50 metres, to make his mark, by scoring the try of the day, under the posts; and give Platt another 2 points for his goal kick. There was still time for the youngster Wallace-Simms to add to his brace with the final try of the game. Titans drove to the left with two quick play the balls in succession, the ball was moved from the left to right, collected by winger Wallace – Simms who rounded the sharks defence to score in the right hand corner
