Town draw 0-0 with Risca United in an Entertaining Game
Despite the windy and freezing weather the game went ahead and was an entertaining one to watch. Both sides gave everything and it was well marshalled by the officials. Despite this though there were no goals and overall neither keeper was worried too much.
Town started brightly with youngsters Lewis Reed and Declan Evans showing why they had got their starts but this good start couldn't be converted into a goal. Risca soaked up the pressure with the wind at their backs and up top they gave Town a couple of scares especially from dead ball situations. (Half Time : 0-0)
In the second half, with the wind at their backs, Town were not able to keep the ball and Risca looked the more dangerous early on. In the last quarter though Town applied some pressure and had a few chances. Only once did they really come close as Lewis Reed's strike was well saved by the visitors keeper (Full Time : 0-0)
A big effort today by everyone on and off the field at Town as we continue our fight to improve our facilities. A massive mention for Geraint and Josh the groundsmen for their pitch and also to Kathy Dykes who kept everyone warm with teas, coffees and some lovely food.
Finally thanks to Mike Bullock (Referee), Mike Hopkins (Assistant) and Matthew Deschoolmeester (Assistant) for a very good performance today
