28th January 2012

With the conditions perfect both teams started to play an open attacking style of rugby running the ball at every opportunity. the large Barnsley pack drove over the Puma's line from a tap penalty to open the scoring quickly followed by a converted try to go into a 12 -0 lead. The Puma's then lost younger Kyle Knox with a broken wrist. After good work from the Puma's pack driving the ball towards the Barnsley try line Colin Swift and Jordon Lee both went close to scoring this enabled half backs Mark Edwards and Oskar Gurtlar to release the backs good hands from centres Nathan Habberjam and Jake Telford resulted in Jonny Hill driving over in the corner to make it 12 -5 at the break. With Adam Houchen, richard armstrong and Dave Brown taking the Puma's forward at every opportunity and fine defence from Simon Bickerdike and John Trevorrow . A dropped ball resulted in the Barnsley winger scoring a long range try against the run of play. From a scrum on the Puma's 10 metre line the referee strangely adjudged the ball was out of the scrum enabling the Barsley scrum half to pick up and crash over the line to put Barnsley 24 – 5 up. This harsh decision sparked the puma's into life to play some of their best attacking rugby of the season. Mark Edarwds made down the touchline then put winger Jonny Hill into the corner for his second try. Jake Telford put John Stevenson into a gap he scythed through the Barnsley defence being tackled short of the line the supporting Will Storey picked up and crashed over the line .Jonny Hill was the man of the match run close by Will Storey and Simon Bickerdike and Nathan Habberjam
