It was T20 time again for the Pool Piranhas as they boarded the plane to take the mammoth journey up to Steeton on the other side of the valley. The sun was shining and everybody was keen for another victory.

The pitch was green, but very hard, after the week's good weather. Dave Amos lost the toss, but the Steeton skipper decided to bowl first. Jake Zsilinszky opened up with the newly promoted Dave Amos (who had been seeing it quite well at nets). Jay Z got off to a stellar start, with 17 coming off the first 4 balls. Amos also came out with good intent. The score stood at 36 after 3 overs before Mossy was caught by an unlikely one-handed catch at extra cover.

Charlie Bell came in at 3, but Jay Z was next to go for a well made 24 off just 15 balls. Sam Wilkinson strode to the crease and the two left handers carried on the intent. Belly went especially bonkers, hitting 6's for fun. Dingle also got in on the act, keeping the rate at 10 runs an over. Belly passed 50 in no time, and was overheard commenting that 'It absolutely reeks of a ramp shot here.' Needless to say, he duly obliged and began to hit ramps at will, much to the bowlers dismay. The lads motored to a 100 partnership, and were running really well as the Steeton fielders lagged in the sun. Belly then mistimed a sweep into his chin and cut it open. He knew where his priorities lied and soldiered on. He was eventually dismissed for 88 off just 45 balls. Ollie Boggie in next.

Dingle passed 50 and kept up the momentum. Boggie was caught at long on, bringing in Adil Mehmood who gave the strike to Dingle to progress. The score ended up on 213-4 off 20 overs. A mammoth total with Sam 74no off 45 balls. An unbelievable performance from the boys.

The Piranhas came out to bowl with teeth snapping. Dave Amos and Henry Boggie opened up. Mossy snared 2 wickets in 2 balls inside the first over, including the infamous 'Desi' ball which once again knocked out Akrigg's off-peg. Henry then nicked off Spragg, with a good catch by Cam Duncan. Henry then claimed his second thanks to a good catch at mid-on by Mossy. Mossy then yorked his way to two more wickets, and the lads smelt blood in the water. 31-6 after 6 and the damage was done and the game gone.

Adam Collett and Will Pallister changed up the bowling. Cooey cleaned up the number 6, who had explained to his friend that he was not running hard on a Wednesday night, despite the fact it was Thursday. Will Pallister bowled a good spell before hitting the deck hard in his follow-through and injuring his side, so Jay Z replaced him and burgled a wicket first ball. 60-8 and the Steeton Sturgeons were on the ropes. A message was given from the Steeton dressing room that the number 11 was rattled and did not fancy a hit. Possibly because Cooey was bowling too quick, or because Belly could be seen warming up.

The last wicket fell on 68. The batter played and missed to a venomous Collett delivery. Cam Duncan, however, saw an opportunity as the batter was out of his crease pondering EU trade restrictions or what he was going to have for his tea. Cam took the bails, and the umpire gave him out, much to Cooeys delight who realised he would claim the wicket for it.

Figures were golden. Mossy 4-9, Henry 2-24, Cooey 2-16 and Jay Z 1-3. A perfect performance from the Piranhas. A great atmosphere around the camp after the game, and the clubs winning mentality moves forward again into the weekend for the 1s and 2s. A top quality performance from the youth side, and if we beat Rhydding in the next round we have a great chance of making the Semis. Well done chaps.
