Posset win again

Portishead collected 3 more points this Thursday with a strong performance against Winscombe. Playing up the slope in the first half they dominated possesion early on and nearly took the lead when Will Payne curled in a free kick which hit the crossbar. Winscombe were playing some neat football but failed to convert this into goalscoring opportunities. Portishead took the lead after 30 minutes , James Playford cut in with the ball from the right wing only to be brought down in the box, George Shanks Boon then smashed in the resulting penalty. The goal gave Posset renewed confidence and 5 minutes later Ben Earle went on a mazy run eventually finding James Montgomery who shot past the Winscombe keeper.James Playford nearly added a third just before half-time but was unfortunate to see his shot crash back ofF the upright

H-T 0-2

Playing down the slope in the second half Portishead again pressed the Winscombe defence and were rewarded when a fine through ball from Ryan Crouch found centre forward James Montgomery who slotted in his second of the evening. The roles were reversed 10 minutes later as Montgomery set up Crouch for the fourth goal of the game.Portishead took their foot off the gas after this, but still created several chances which could have increased their goal tally on the night. To their credit Winscombe never gave up and scored a deserved consolation goal 5 minutes from the end. Portishead, however ran out worthy winners.
