Portishead were well beaten in ther league clash against Cheddar on Thursday night.Having being forced to reshuffle ther squad just before this fixture due to the withdrawl of a key players George Shanks Boon took over the goalkeeping role and covered himself in glory during the first half with a string of outstanding saves, which included a fantastic double save tipping the first shot onto the bar and pushing away the resulting follow up.
Portishead started to get a foothold in the game and after 20 minutes Jonny Coles had a fine run on the left, unfortunately his resulting shot was well saved. Tom Fowler then had a volley that was comfortly saved by the Cheddar keeper. The Portishead defence of Nic G,Jack H, Sammy P and Tomik D were battling hard to contain a lively Cheddar forward line who were a constant threat. After 35 minutes the Cheddar centre forward rode 3 challenges to break into the box for a great shooting chance only to be wiped out by Ben Earle who conceeded a penalty which was converted with style.

5 minutes into the second half, and as a result of poor marking, Cheddar made it 2-0 from a corner. Portishead then pushed forward with Will P, Ben E ,Dale R and Luthor L working hard in midfield. The boys had a couple of half chances as they pressed foward, only to be caught out by a long ball over the top, the Cheddar centre forward controlled the ball and lashed a shot beyond the diving Portishead keeper.Tom F then had a goal disallowed for offside, and battling
Jonny C had two shots that were not converted. Portishead then conceeded a late fourth goal again caused by poor marking from a corner (something to work on at training i think)
