Well, on a good note, it was an excellent turn out, good to see so many there for an early kick off on an incredibly cold day, so thanks and well done to all. Secondly, well done to the blues, expertly managed by Steve Bryson and well worthy of their 5-1 victory. More on that later.
I'll quickly sum up the perfomance of my yellow team, so very very poor! A chance to go out there and play some football with confidence was completely wasted with half the team trying to be Christiano Ronaldo or Zinedine Zidane! This should be a light hearted report on what should have been a nice social get together. However, I'm a firm believer in you get out what you put in, on this occassion, we put nothing in and certainly got nothing out! Although I appreciate it is difficult to replicate the urgency of a competitive match we should at least be able to muster some degree of pride in our performance to at least deliver some kind of competitive performance. So chance wasted to play some football, luckily, no points lost or cup eliminations, so while I'll probably bring it up before our next fixture let's put it to bed for the moment, I'm sure you'll all come flooding to training to put it right........
Right, that's the bad and the ugly all wrapped up, time for some good! For all the Yellows lacked in all deparetments the blues displayed in abundance, using the excellent footballing conditions they moved the ball around expertly, with movement full of energy to match. With the back four expertly marshalled by Dougal Tyrie and Paul Weir it was left to the Petal and Dave Crook in front of them to dictate the play and that is exactly what they did for 90 minutes. Rob Ingham linked the midfield well with the lively Yass up top who's confidence seemed to come flowing back in welcoming conditions.
I wont go in to more detail as the above pretty much sums up the match as a whole. But a mention to the goal scorers, Yass, two for Petal and two for Stampy. I wasn't going to give a man of the match but as Sean begged so hard for me to pick one I wont let him down. So, well down to Stampy, a clean sheet in one half and a brace in the other, keep up the good work!
Finally, I've posted some photo's from the day, they are in the Interclub match album, and a couple of videos are awaiting moderation so should be up shortly.
the power of the mighty Grand Parade blue and black stripes that won the day!
I think it was the lucky goalkeeping hat that was shared by the blues. I'm awaiting fifa ruling on the legality of this type of headwear, I'm hoping to get the result overturned!!
