Sad News

Sad News; Alan Haig, Sunlight player for many years and regular 'Oldie' at the club sadly died yesterday at home in Bebington. Port Sunlight RFC has lost a gentleman and genuine Corinthian from it's ranks, he will be truly missed.

Very sad news indeed. Spent many an hour with a beer in hand listening to Hag Eyes stories and loved every minute. COndolences to Gav and Shaun.

Yes Neville - Alan was a lecturer - I thought it was the University but it may well have been Liverpool Poly

Alan served time as a joiner then went back to college and after teaching in schools taught building and surveying at Liverpool Poly.He retired as Principal Lecturer and Head of Department in the College of Building. I was privileged in that he got the tool box out and sorted my garage roof. Top man!

Good send off for Hagi yesterday - nice to see lots of old team mates and lads from other clubs.
Wirral, Anselmians, Old Instonians,Hoylake, Birkenhead Park were all represented. Its a shame we only seem to get together at occasions like this.
There was a nice piece on the back of the order of service that said it all
"For when the One Great Scorer comes
    To write against your name
He marks - not that you won or lost -
But how you played the game"

What a great game by the touring side - played in the right spirit - I think everyone enjoyed the frolics and sing-song afterwards too!
