Clubs 150th Anniversary Celebrations

This year sees Potters Bar CC reach the heady old heights of 150 years of age and we would like to raise the following idea to see how it fares....

150TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS.
In 2012 we celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Potters Bar Cricket Club.
On this basis, the Club’s Social Committee is looking to run a major social event to celebrate our 150th, on the lines of the celebrations that took place in both 1962 (for the Centenary) and 1987 (for the 125th Anniversary).

As a result, it is hoped that a Summer Ball will be held at the Clubhouse, augmented by a substantial marquee, on a Saturday evening in early September 2012 for up to 180 members of the Club, both past and present, and their guests.

At this stage, however, the first essential is to ascertain whether the running of such an event is feasible. On this basis, I am writing to all Club Members ( cricket, hockey and social), to ascertain the likely demand from the Club’s membership, bearing in mind the need to assess potential income against the probable levels of expenditure. Initially we are anticipating a maximum ticket price for the Summer Ball of £50-00 per head, although hopefully the final figure would be considerably lower once final estimates of cost have been assessed. The ticket price would cover a four course Dinner (starter, main course, sweet and coffee), with a live band and a probable licence to 1.30am. A full club bar would be operating throughout the evening, with prices at club as opposed to hotel levels, whilst a sizeable dance floor will be available in the marquee once Dinner has been concluded.

To ensure a success of the Summer Ball, we need to know that we have the full support of the membership of the Club, and if this obtained we will then advise past members of the Club of our proposals and commence ticket sales. We would like to be in a position to do this by the middle of February at the latest. Therefore please could we ask you to consider our preliminary proposals and let us know whether you would consider attending (or better still bringing a party) to the 150th Anniversary Summer Ball when hopefully the decision is made sometime during February 2012 to proceed with the event.

You will receive this notice from the Management Committee Representative of the section within the Club to which you belong. Please respond to that person, whereupon we will then be able to gauge the preliminary reaction generated by these proposals.

Thank you.

Richard West Chairman, Potters Bar Cricket Club.
